BRANDING CRIME #05

The “Buy Now!” Overload

“Sell, sell, sell! Never offer value!”

How it kills

  • Turns every interaction into a sales pitch, making your brand feel more like a pushy street vendor than a trusted expert.
  • Exhausts your audience—if every post is a flashing neon “BUY NOW,” they’ll eventually tune you out.
  • If your brand story is just “We exist, please buy,” then it’s not a story—it’s an infomercial, and nobody’s staying up late to watch.

What Works

  • People don’t buy products; they buy solutions, identity, and stories. Give them a reason to care before asking them to buy.
  • Balance selling with value—teach, entertain, or inspire before asking for a sale.
  • You do care about people—really, you do. But somewhere between the third sales funnel and the urgent reminder about quarterly targets, you start sounding less like a person and more like a particularly enthusiastic cash register. Best to remember: we are humans talking with humans, not pop-ups yelling at wallets.
